Evangelical Church of God Pickering
T. Toban
Host Pastor
The Evangelical Church of God – Pickering, initially called New Life in Christ, had its humble beginnings in the home of Pastor Loretta James as she responded to the call to host a prayer meeting.
As membership increased the need arose for a more permanent location, which led to services being held at the Albert Campbell Institute in Scarborough, ON.
The church experienced a change of address a few more times, before eventually settling for a while at 1539 Warden Ave., in Scarborough. It was during this time that the name was officially changed to what it is today after becoming a part of the Evangelical Church of God body with current headquarters in Cambridge, ON.
The location at Warden Ave. was a leased facility with an imminent expiry date, therefore with confidence and faith in the Lord to make the way, the decision was made to procure a building. This search led to the current location at Unit 14 – 905 Dillingham Road.
After fulfilling the necessary requirements to adhere to city standards and bi-laws, the building was considered fit for worship by the end of 2005 and the official church opening and dedication service was held on January 7, 2006.
We are a holiness bible believing church that worships God through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We are Pentecostal in nature, while believing the whole bible from Genesis to Revelations, as stated in our statement of faith.
Our mission is to tear down through God, every stronghold of the enemy and to build the kingdom of God while looking forward to the imminent return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; joining with other true saints in this endeavour, we are determined by the grace of God to reach the lost souls at any cost.
